New ‘Saveur’ cruise, targeting food and wine fans, will dock in Cadiz

Windstar Cruises is joining forces with Saveur magazine to offer its first culinary-focused voyage, which will dock in Cadiz and Malaga next year.

a small boat in a large body of waterThe eight-night Culinary & Wine Delights of Spain sailing will kick off April 19, 2014 in Lisbon, Portugal and include stops in half a dozen Spanish ports including Cádiz, Málaga, Cartagena and Valencia.

Windstar says the trip, on the 312-passenger Wind Surf, will explore the local wine, culture and regional cuisine of Spain and be hosted by a Saveur chef and a master sommelier. Also accompanying passengers will be winemaker Jorge Ordonez, who serves as the largest U.S. importer of Spanish wines.

Included in the trip will be two wine dinners on board the ship that feature Spanish cuisine and wine pairings; a selection of complimentary Spanish wines featured daily on the ship; the choice of two complimentary shoreside local vineyard and culinary excursions (from eight options); and two on-board wine lectures given by Ordonez and the master sommelier.

Also on tap: Cooking demonstrations of local dishes with Saveur’s chef.

Fares for the trip start at $2,999 per person, based on double occupancy, for bookings made by Aug. 31. Early bookers also will receive a one-year subscription to Saveur.
